The Main Responsibilities of Forklift custodians

  1. Know the physical location or disposition of your forklift and its keys.

  2. Assure that the forklift and its keys are readily available to users in the assigned group.

  3. Keep the forklift properly fueled and know what to do if the vehicle should inadvertently run out of fuel. If you are not a regular user, you may wish to assign the responsibility of maintaining fuel to one or more of the forklift's users.

  4. Schedule and deliver the forklift to the LLNL Fleet Motor Pool when notified of pending routine service and maintenance.

  5. When necessary, schedule and deliver the forklift to Motor Pool for specific non-routine repairs or special maintenance.

  6. Know what to do if the forklift is involved in an accident, especially if the accident should result in property damage and/or personal injury.

  7. Report end-of-the-month forklift meter readings to the NIF Programs Vehicle Representative (click here).

  8. Verify that your forklift is being charged to the correct account number. If that number changes or the account is closed, you should provide a new account number or the name of the Resource Manager or other contact who can provide a new account number for vehicle operating expenses.
